broken-plan spaces
You’ve probably heard of “open-plan” space, something we’ve all been fixated on creating since 1970’s, in our own homes, and in the workplace.
Big, airy spaces with little obstruction, allowing us to swoosh around the space freely. We still love it, and it’s still the best way to maximise square footage.
But things have evolved, there’s a newer trend…”broken-plan”.
What's Broken-plan?
When space is physically divided by something. For example, changes in floor finish, floor levels, partitions, shelving, bookcases or furniture.

Why we like it
With subtle divisions, you can keep the benefits of an open-plan space, whilst creating different moods and areas for specific uses. This can be applied to your workplace and your home.

For less permanent ways to introduce broken-plan to your space, try a rug on the floor, with a coffee table, lounge chair & some books can define a “reading nook” area for example.
