first half of 2022
The practical
It’s no surprise that post-covid19 the office market has taken a bit of a nose dive with lots of companies introducing working from home as a permanent working location for staff.
Whilst the demand for large office space stood still, the same could not be said for other sectors. We saw an increase in demand for industrial space, both large and small, so we’ve been busy expanding and refurbishing our trade-counter and industrial portfolio.

BASE Business space
chamberlain road, hull
We acquired BASE Business Space, formerly known as Chamberlain Business Centre in late 2020. The site was already occupied by more than 50 businesses, so we started tackling the redevelopment in a phased manner to minimise disruption to the existing businesses. We’ve refurbished some existing industrial buildings introducing a Cheerleading dance school, a workwear & safety equipment company, an olympic weight training gym, a workshop for ourselves, and many more diverse businesses,
MKM BUILDING SUPPLIES
VARIOUS LOCATIONS across the uk
We’ve been working with fellow Hull company MKM Building Supplies, but not in Hull on this occasion, but all over the UK ! Site finding/buying, and building new stores, from Scunthorpe to Scotland.

THE TRADE YARD WILLERBY
grange park lane, willerby
We acquired the former Bonus Electrical site in Willerby, and have turned it into The Trade Yard. Consisting of 4 trade-counter units, and a final alternative building/operator due to open their doors September 2022.
We also completed the build of 4 brand-new industrial units at The Trade Yard Driffield, with Toolstation taking occupation followed by two motor car operators, bringing the site to immediate full occupancy. We then went on to sell the Driffield site in Summer 2022.
The Trade Yard is a sub-brand of Allenby Commercial, with sites in sites Beverley, Scunthorpe, and soon Immingham.

OTHER BUSINESS

CHariot house
We welcomed Thomas Mawer Ltd as a new tenant at Chariot House. They’ve moved into a 2,500sqft modern office space in Hull City Centre, leaving just one floor plate at Chariot House available to rent.
DANISH BUILDINGS
We’re fully occupied once again at Danish Buildings & Bayles House, with our popular creative studio space attracting more innovative businesses to the Old Town. More details on our new tenants there will be announced soon.


WORX
We welcomed new faces to our multi-use site, WORK, Beverley Road. Cutting edge marketing company Diony moved into Unit 5 (seen to the left).
And Reed in Partnership moved into Unit 8/9.
MYTON STREET
We’re moving our Allenby office! We’re working through the designs at the moment, in Spring 2023 we will move into a fully custom-fitted building all for OURSELVES! As the old saying goes “a builders house is never finished” and that’s certainly been the case for us since our move to Alfred Gelder Street in 2016. This time, we’re doing it properly, our designer Georgia is all too excited about it. We asked her what we can expect? “wabi-sabi, minimal, bright, airy, with well thought-out zones, and a rooftop garden filled with swishy grasses and maybe even a calming water feature too”.

The fun Stuff
We’ve been getting creative at Paragon Arcade with numerous installations:
PARAGON ARCADE x G.F SMITH
We collaborated with Hull paper merchant G.F Smith to create an eco-friendly fully recyclable Jubilee spectacular.
PARAGON ARCADE x PRIDE IN HULL
We installed large rainbow colours from shop to shop to celebrate Pride In Hull. Paragon Arcade is a fully inclusive venue, which is accentuated by our wonderful neighbour The Star, Hull’s best “gay bar”.
We’ve got lots of tenants shuffling around at Paragon Arcade this year, and a few new businesses joining Autumn 2022, so we have lots of work to do between now & then. But we are thrilled to say that all the units are taken by more innovative indie businesses, we can’t wait to get them all up & trading for the Christmas period. There is something so magical about the Arcade at Christmas time!
